Ever searched for a familiar company on social media, opened a profile and found almost nothing there? The name looks right. The picture looks familiar. Then you start scrolling and there is barely anything to scroll through.
It is a small thing, but it makes you curious. Has the account been forgotten? Is it waiting for something? Or have you opened a completely different profile with the same name?

A name does not tell the whole story
We are so used to recognising a brand name that we sometimes stop there. But the name is only one part of the page. The handle, the description and where the profile links all help explain what you are actually looking at.
And an empty page does not tell you why it is empty. There could be plenty of explanations. Guessing that a company simply forgot about it might make a funny headline, but the profile alone cannot confirm that story.
It helps to start somewhere you already know
For a company such as Apple, its official contact page gives you a known starting point for company and support information. That is much clearer than deciding whether an unfamiliar account is official because its name looks convincing.

The illustrations here are about that little moment of uncertainty. You recognise something, but you still need a bit more context before you know what it means.
So yes, a quiet account can be quite a curious sight. Sometimes the most interesting thing on a social page is the thing that has not been posted there.
