Bourbon is the whiskey that everyone loves – the sweet, mild and oaky drink that feels just wonderful. If you are a whiskey person, then you most probably are a bourbon lover too. This warm and pure drink is so soothing and subtle that it just tastes like heaven.

It is unique from the other whiskeys. The reason being that bourbon is brewed from corn. And its quality depends on the kind of grain that’s chosen, the yeast strains, and the barrels that they are stored in. A lot can be said about the brewing of bourbon by just the taste of it.

Bourbons are not usually fancied in cocktails, but they actually make a pretty great base for cocktails! In fact, they could make the best base for a lot of drinks. Check them out! You might just find your new personal favourite drink down below!

  1. The Hot Toddy

The hot toddy is a beautiful blend of bourbon with cloves, lime, brown sugar and hot water. It is also known as the grandfather of hot cocktails and has a taste to die for. It also serves as a medicine if you have a cold. The next time you have a cold, you know what to do!

  1. Bourbon Old Fashioned

Bourbon with sugar, water, bitters and gracing it with an orange peel is the classic old-fashioned bourbon. This drink is the best to have on a nice lazy day at home, with your peeps around and you are in the mood to just chill.

Now this classic comes with some red wine. Yum. You can make the best New York Sour by adding bourbon to a syrup of white sugar and water, lime and red wine. And viola, you get to taste the magic!

  1. Jockey Club Cocktail

  1. Uncle Angelo’s eggnog

Uncle Angelo’s eggnog is a treat for you if you like light cocktails. And if you don’t, then you will fall in love with this light cocktail. This drink takes a little bit more work to make, hence the awesomeness. You will need to beat egg yolks and a half cup of sugar till they are light in colour. Stir in the milk, heavy cream, bourbon and rum into it. Then, in a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with some more sugar until they form soft peaks. Fold about one third of the egg whites into the yolk blend that you just made. Serve with some nutmeg for garnish!

  1. Basil Hayden’s Blood Mary

Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a pint glass and coat with some celery salt. Now, fill the glass with ice and add 2 dashes of celery salt, Basil Hayden’s Bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and wasabi. Fill with tomato juice and stir well. Garnish with a celery stalk, lime wedge and blue cheese-stuffed olives and there! Your perfect concoction is ready!

  1. Bourbon lift

To make this rich bourbon drink, add the bourbon, heavy cream, coffee liqueur and almond orgeat into a shaker and fill with ice. Shake for about 10 seconds and double-strain into an 8-ounce glass. Now fill the glass with club soda.Wait a few seconds and then add another splash of soda which will lift the foam above the top of the glass. Doesn’t it look gorgeous? Serve it with a straw.
