Spark-Mini Drone That Can be Controlled by Hand Gestures

Gesture Controlled Mini Drone

A tiny drone packed with full of easy to use gesture features which is convenient for those who are novices in using drones and also for the experts. Dà-Jiāng Innovations Science and Technology Co., Ltd ( DJI) a Chinese technology company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong has recently unveiled DJI Spark.

DJI manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), also known as drones, for aerial photography and videography, gimbals, flight platforms, cameras, propulsion systems, camera stabilizers, and flight controllers. It is the world’s leading company in the civilian-drone industry, accounting for 70% of the global consumer drone market.

The most exciting feature of the Spark —beyond its small size, that is—is that you can control it using hand gestures with “Gesture Mode.”

It can launch from and land back in the palm of your hand, you can move it anyway you want using your hand like a magnet attracting a metal object. With a wave of your hand as if you were creating a portrait, you can even get it to take a picture. It even adds a shallow depth of field to your picture to make it awesome.

In addition to hand gestures, Spark also includes intelligent flight options with pre-programmed flight paths and subject tracking. While it moves around in the skies, the “3D Sensing System” of the drone keeps it from running into obstacles in front of it; and it can fly up to 31 mph (50 kph).

More complex maneuvers, like automated flight path etc have to be controlled by your smart phone and/or the Spark remote controller but if you’re using its most basic functions, then the drone can be controlled “by hand gestures alone”

Spark can capture your pictures with 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of 12MP photos and 1080p video, attached to a 2-axis gimbal. And all of these features are packed into a drone that is just 10.6 ounces (300 grams) light, less than a can of soft drink.
