Airbus unveils the modular air Pop.Up concept to beat the traffic

Self driven cars, drones, flying cars are envisaged to be the future and the company also working in the area of automation and maximum utility of the machines.

At Geneva International Motor show, Airbus and Italdesign showcased the concept of Pop.Up design capsule. The capsule is like hybrid which can run on the road and fly too with help of drone.

The major problem with flying car is that its heavy and want more space, these are the reason why flying car concept is not taking off, off-course the air traffic is another issue.

Airbus and Italdesign want to introduce something innovative and different. The capsule enables the person to drive it on the road and when the road starts to get busy and you feel like that you are stuck in traffic, then you can just call the drone through your smartphone app and you are ready to fly and beat the traffic.

And the flying option can be used for mega-city journeys with high congested traffic. The capsule can be disconnected from the ground module and becomes a urban self-piloted air vehicle.

This given advantage of third dimension helping to reach from point A to B with efficiency and avoid the traffic.

This concept of modular design will be handled by system of artificial intelligence platform. The concept is envisioned for year 2030 when the traffic will congestion increase due to immense population.

The Airbus Pop.Up capsule structure would be of a monocoque carbon-fibre cocoon and measures 2.6 meters long, 1.4 meters high, and 1.5 meters wide.

Jörg Astalosch, CEO of Italdesign made a statement that “Today, automobiles are part of a much wider eco-system: If you want to design the urban vehicle of the future, the traditional car cannot alone be the solution for megacities, you also have to think about sustainable and intelligent infrastructure, apps, integration, power systems, urban planning, social aspects, and so on,”

There was no timeline specified for this project.
