5. Don’t focus only on Shares, track amplification rates also

Avinash Kaushik provides a similar metric to track shares. According to him, instead of  just focusing on the number of times your content is shared on social media, the amplification rate measures the ratio of shares per post to the total number of followers (or Page Likes). Because they are following you, these people have already shown a willingness to associate themselves with your brand, so they would be expected to to also actively share your content.

6. Don’t just track likes, track applause rate

While likes are valuable on social media, it doesn’t serve any purpose as a stand alone metric. According to Kaushik, track your applause rates instead which is the ratio of likes per post to the number of overall followers (or Page Likes) you have. Your applause rate lets you know exactly how much of your audience finds your content interesting or not.

7. Track leads not only number

One of the most important metrics that can be tracked on social is the number of leads generated. Why this is important is because leads are directly tied to revenue. If you are trying to get revenue out of social media, a warm and fresh lead is the best and surest way to get connected to the right people.

The best way to track leads is to ensure that the links you share are trackable within your market automation or analytics software-whether it is Google Analytics, Salesforce or Marketo etc. In order to track the leads that are shared on social media should include a UTM Code. This code follows anyone who clicks that link as they visit your website and become a lead, either right away or later on. This can help you attribute leads to individual social media messages or campaigns.
