When 32 year old photographer Kaylyn Messer heard about a large ice circle spinning in Middle Fork Snoqualmie River, Washington, she drove to the location to see if she would be able to spot the ice disk.
When she reached the spot, Kaylyn parked on a bridge from where she was able to see this breathtaking phenomena. She was so mesmerised by the phenomena that she ended up staying there for a couple of hours. In an interview with the Seattle Times, she said, “It was a very meditative thing to watch. It was just kind of like a record spinning on a player after a song was done. I think that’s why I ended up staying for a couple of hours.”
“I was elated to see that the circle was still intact and spinning.”
“You can hear the sound of the river flowing continuously. Sounds from the ice periodically interjected with very small sharp cracks and groans,” she explains. “Overall, it was a quiet experience to stand along the river watching the ice circle rotate.”
